Eaton Back Flush Filter Element
Woven Wire and Slotted Wedge Wire Filter Elements for Back Flush Filtration
GXFilter manufactures custom Eaton Back Flush Filter Elements for industrial liquid filtration and automatic backwash applications. These filter elements are available with woven wire or slotted wedge wire filtration media to meet different particle retention, flow rate, pressure and cleaning requirements.
The elements can be manufactured as replacement filter cartridges, candle-style elements or custom cylindrical filtration components according to the original equipment dimensions and application requirements.
Eaton Back Flush Filter Element for Industrial Filtration
The Eaton Back Flush Filter Element is designed for filtration systems where the filter media must retain suspended particles while allowing the element to be cleaned by reverse flow. GXFilter provides custom replacement elements using precision filtration media selected according to the required particle retention and operating conditions.
These elements are suitable for applications requiring continuous or semi-continuous filtration with periodic back flushing. Depending on the required filtration rating, the element can use woven wire mesh or a slotted wedge wire screen surface.
For replacement projects, GXFilter can manufacture the filter element based on an original element, technical drawing, sample or dimensional specification.
Eaton Back Flush Filter Element Construction
A back flush filter element consists of a filtration surface supported by a rigid internal structure. The filtration media captures particles from the process liquid while the support structure provides mechanical strength during normal filtration and reverse-flow cleaning.
GXFilter can manufacture the filtration surface using woven wire mesh or slotted wedge wire, depending on the required filtration rating, particle characteristics and cleaning method.
Woven Wire and Slotted Wedge Wire Filtration Media
Different filtration processes require different particle retention characteristics. GXFilter provides Eaton Back Flush Filter Elements with both woven wire and slotted wedge wire media to cover a broad range of industrial filtration requirements.
Elements are available in 2 to 40 micron woven wire and 23 to 150 micron slotted wedge wire to meet varying particle retention and application requirements.
Typical Applications
| Filter Media | Available Filtration Range | Typical Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Woven Wire | 2–40 micron | Fine particle filtration and controlled mesh retention |
| Slotted Wedge Wire | 23–150 micron | Rigid continuous-slot filtration and backwash applications |
How Does an Eaton Back Flush Filter Element Work?
During normal filtration, contaminated liquid flows through the filter element. Particles larger than the effective filtration opening are retained on the filtration surface while the filtered liquid passes through the element.
- Normal filtration: Process liquid flows through the filter element.
- Particle retention: Suspended particles are retained by the filtration media.
- Pressure differential increases: As particles accumulate, the pressure drop across the element can increase.
- Back flush begins: The filtration system reverses the flow or introduces a cleaning fluid through the element.
- Particles are removed: Reverse flow dislodges accumulated solids from the filtration surface.
- Filtration resumes: After the cleaning cycle, the element returns to normal filtration operation.
Back flushing parameters should be determined according to the filter system design, filtration media, retained solids and process conditions.
Woven Wire vs. Slotted Wedge Wire Filter Elements
| Feature | Woven Wire | Slotted Wedge Wire |
|---|---|---|
| Filtration Range | 2–40 micron | 23–150 micron |
| Opening Type | Woven mesh openings | Continuous wedge wire slots |
| Typical Use | Fine filtration | Industrial filtration and backwash applications |
| Construction | Woven wire mesh | Welded wedge wire |
| Mechanical Structure | Depends on mesh and support structure | Rigid welded screen construction |
| Customization | Mesh and dimensions | Slot opening, wire profile and dimensions |
Woven wire is often selected when very fine particle retention is required, while slotted wedge wire provides a rigid continuous-slot screening surface for applications where mechanical strength, open area and backwashability are important.

Eaton and AccuFlux Element Replacement
GXFilter can manufacture replacement filter elements for selected Eaton filtration systems and applications using comparable filtration media and dimensional specifications.
AccuFlux elements are designed for demanding filtration applications, and replacement requirements may involve specific element dimensions, filtration ratings, end connections and support structures.
For replacement projects, customers can provide the original element model, part number, drawing, photographs or physical dimensions. GXFilter can then review the available information and determine whether a custom replacement element can be manufactured.
Note: Eaton and AccuFlux are referenced for product identification and replacement application purposes. GXFilter is an independent manufacturer and is not affiliated with Eaton unless specifically stated in a project agreement.
Eaton Back Flush Filter Element FAQ
GXFilter can manufacture elements using different filtration media. Available options include 2 to 40 micron woven wire and 23 to 150 micron slotted wedge wire. The appropriate rating depends on the required particle retention and process conditions.
GXFilter can manufacture custom replacement filter elements based on available original equipment information, including dimensions, drawings, samples, photographs or part numbers. The replacement design should be verified against the original equipment requirements before production.
Woven wire uses woven mesh openings and is available for fine filtration applications, including ratings from 2 to 40 micron. Slotted wedge wire uses continuously welded screen wires and can be supplied from 23 to 150 micron. Wedge wire provides a rigid screening structure and can be suitable for applications involving back flushing and repeated cleaning.
